Reporting Requirement | |
Incident | An incident can be defined as an occurrence, condition, or situation arising in the course of work that resulted or could have resulted in injuries, illnesses or property damage. |
Accident | An accident implies the event is related to fate or chance, however, when root cause is determined often the event could have been prevented if the right actions were taken. For simplicity - the term "incident" will be used for both accident and incident. |
Injury | First Aid Injury: minor in nature where treatment can be provided by a band aid, cold compress or any content of a first aid kit.
Health Care Injury: requires treatment or service rendered by a health care provider that may or may not include time lost from work. |

Includes all full-time, part-time, sessional, casual employees and students working with the On-Campus Employment Program. | Includes students, non-DC contractors, visitors and members of the general public present or working within college workplaces. | Includes students participating in unpaid placement/practicum both on and off campus |
- All employees must report the incident/injury to the supervisor immediately.
- Within 24 hours, the Incident/Injury eForm must be completed and submitted.

- All non-employees involved in an incident/injury must report the event to a DC contact.
- Within 24 hours, the DC contact must ensure completed and submitted.

- Students participating in unpaid placements/practicums must immediately report all workplace incidents/injuries to their placement/practicum employer and to their co-ordinator at the college.
- If medical attention was necessary, additional documentation is required.
